Self Portrait Mode

Over the last couple of weeks it has been raining pretty consistently in Wellington which makes for difficult shooting conditions with the Rollei. Obviously I can’t take it in the rain and shop awnings become dark enough to make for slow shutter speeds and focusing difficulties, not to forget that people tend to congregate less when it is raining so there is less opportunity to capture interaction between them.

At times like this it seems like I go into “Self Portrait” mode and start looking round for things that reflect…

Rolleiflex 2.8 E, Ilford HP5+ 400 ISO Film, CanoScan 9000F Scanner.

  1. You’re looking a bit grim, though, Simone. SAD affecting you? And no wonder…. Hell, where does all this rain come from?!

    • Concentration does that to me 🙂 Its a similar look that you got from me in some of the assisting shots 🙂

  2. If you were using a real (digital) camera, you would have more time to enjoy the moment – rather than worrying about manual focus/exposure/composition. … 🙂

    • If I was shooting a “real/digital” camera I would be at home looking stuff up about it on the internet rather than being out taking photos 😛 I think it was a good indication of how I was feeling at the time I took the shot. It was hard work lining up the shot adjusting for parallax and then waiting for someone to walk past at the same time no wonder I look like I am concentrating 🙂
