Sleeper In The Rain

Not a particularly good sleeper but I couldn’t get a better angle since it looked like he had a friend nearby who wasn’t asleep.

It pretty much sums up things at the moment with it raining the last 3 Saturdays when I usually get these shots.

More Alley… Before And After.

I was cleaning out some stuff on my computer last night when I came across the top image of the Alley from last year. It was almost from the exact same viewpoint as one of the shots from the post on Wednesday so here they go side by side (or one above the other).

Sand Relocation

A truck coming back from dropping off a load of sand along Oriental Parade. The trip before this one he really booted it through the water sending spray everywhere but toned it down this trip possibly since I was standing there with a camera and Sam was too impatient for me to stick around for another pass.

Alley Revisited

I was walking past “The Alley” the other week and I noticed that the gate was open… Sweet… So here goes some shots from inside my favorite Ally after it has been painted entirely white and boring… with a few embellishments and on the bonus side it didn’t smell of urine like it used to 🙂

Giant Bubbles

It was finally a nice day on Thursday so me and Sam went for a wander along the waterfront shooting after not being out for a couple of weeks. As we were walking past the rowing club we both noticed some rather large bubbles out across the inlet. Upon further investigation we came across the bubble maker who was testing out his bubble mixture. This is one of the few times I wished I was shooting colour…

I don’t think I have ever seen bubbles bouncing off the surface of the water before and Sam was more than happy to stay and watch where as she usually gets bored easily in the backpack if we stop for too long.

The Final Days Of Real Groovy Wellington

Last week Real Groovy record store in Wellington closed its doors for the last time. Its had a bit of an up and down roller coaster ride financially over the last few years but the iconic store has always seemed to come back… I guess not this time 😦

I took these shots the week before it closed for good where they were selling everything off cheap.

You will be missed…

Girl In Window

As I was walking past this window I noticed the girl inside doing alterations to a pair of jeans. She looked so happy I just had to take a shot… A polarizing filter would have been handy to take some of the reflection off the window but since I dont have one for Rollei it wasnt an issue.

She spotted me just after I took the photo and gave me a wave 🙂

Diver

Prepping for a dive… Not sure if this was a training dive or something to do with checking the piles under the pier  which is soon to be redeveloped…

Happy 20th Isobel and Sleeper

I have been trying to get an image of this piece of graffiti for about a week  (it’s gone now) but with the light I hadn’t had any luck with framing it up. Saturday I noticed this sleeper but when I first saw him there were a whole bunch of people drinking next to him who I thought might be his friends so I decided not to shoot it since drunk friends usually take an exception to people taking images of their passed out comrades.

I went round the block and came back to find the so-called friends just leaving so managed to get this shot. I could have got closer but liked this composition best as it incorporated a piece of graffiti (now gone) as well as the sleeper themselves.

I have no idea who Isobel is…

Pajamas On The Waterfront

I came across these girls (and guy obscured on the airbed) a couple of Mondays ago. They were filming something but it was after the 48 Hour movie competition had finished so I’m not really sure what they were filming for. I love the expression from the girl on the left, she was probably wondering why some guy with a small person on his back was taking her photo 🙂
