Sleeper On The Waterfront

This was one of the reasons I wasn’t too worried about getting the Slut Walk (yesterdays post) all confused since I would have missed this sleeper if I had…

Slut Walk Wellington 2011

On Saturday I endeavored to go and photograph the Wellington Slut Walk. It started at 2 at Waitangi Park… simple enough… Unfortunately as one part of my brain said Waitangi Park the rest of my brain said Frank Kits Park. So I was wandering round going “where is everyone?” and met up with a friend who said he was going to Waitangi Park to photograph the Slut Walk (at this point I’m still hearing Frank Kits Park). So we wander past Frank Kits park and through Civic Square and head along Cuba Street and onto Courtenay Place towards Waitangi park… Halfway there I decide to head back to Frank Kits Park cause that’s where my brain tells me to go… Greg must have thought I was being weird 🙂

Anyway I got back to Frank Kits and of course no-one was there so I wandered round town aimlessly and just as I was heading back to the car I noticed a gathering of people on the steps above Civic Square… I had missed the walk but got to hear the speeches etc… Not the best place to take images, the walk would have been better but you take what you can get.

I’m currently looking for a new brain where the left and right sides don’t get confused while communicating with each other so if you know where to find one going cheap let me know 🙂

Drawing

After yesterdays fantastic weather it seems to be back to raining again today so hopefully I will get some time to develop yesterdays films. On the down side it seems I probably over did it yesterday which I discovered when I tried to get up this morning (at 645 Care of Sam) and found that my ribs were almost back to square one 😦 although I did find that extreme pain is a great way to be fully awake very quickly.

Anyway here is  a shot of someone drawing in Civic Square sometime in March…

Good Days Shooting… And Some Old Stuff

Things finally came together today with a nice day on a Saturday and my body being happy enough to let me carry a camera and bag without causing too much pain and not affecting breathing…

I finished off the roll of film that had been in Rollei for the last three weeks and managed to fill another one as well, which is pretty unprecedented for me. After a slow start to the day I even managed to get a sleeper which all going well should be a good one in a new spot 🙂

Hopefully things should be back to normal in the next couple of weeks.

I still have to develop the film so unfortunately we are still on older shots that I have found on my computer which I have missed or thought “Ill put that up later”…

This was a World Festival held in Civic Square about the middle of March

Sleeper?

This one is possibly a cheat as I’m not really sure if this guy was asleep or just lying in the sun…

Googlie Eyed Squid

The eyes were a nice addition… I wonder if they were added by the artist or someone else?

Going Slightly Crazy And A Picture Of A Dragon

The start of week two without shooting due to a combination of a back and rib injuries from a miss-spent youth. The weather hasn’t been especially friendly either and the few times I have tried to venture out with either half frame or D70s (yes I have dusted it off, literally) it has either been raining or has started to rain when I was in transit to where ever I was going.

Carrying a digital again has been due to a Fujifilm competition which wont let me enter scanned images…Um don’t they make film too? The first prize is an Fuji X100, which I have to say would be a quite nice camera to carry around to compliment Rollei. It is quite hard to be inspired when it is raining and not shooting 6×6 (everything seems to look better square) but we will see how it goes. It is supposed to be a nice day tomorrow so I might take Sam out in the  push chair and have a look round and see what is up.

I think Sam is going slightly crazy too with not being able to get outside much… She is currently under my desk untying my shoe laces (hopefully she’s not tying them together) and talking a  mile a minute.

Anyway here goes a shot from earlier in the year at the dragon boat festival…

Sleeper In The Rain

Not a particularly good sleeper but I couldn’t get a better angle since it looked like he had a friend nearby who wasn’t asleep.

It pretty much sums up things at the moment with it raining the last 3 Saturdays when I usually get these shots.

More Alley… Before And After.

I was cleaning out some stuff on my computer last night when I came across the top image of the Alley from last year. It was almost from the exact same viewpoint as one of the shots from the post on Wednesday so here they go side by side (or one above the other).

Sand Relocation

A truck coming back from dropping off a load of sand along Oriental Parade. The trip before this one he really booted it through the water sending spray everywhere but toned it down this trip possibly since I was standing there with a camera and Sam was too impatient for me to stick around for another pass.

Alley Revisited

I was walking past “The Alley” the other week and I noticed that the gate was open… Sweet… So here goes some shots from inside my favorite Ally after it has been painted entirely white and boring… with a few embellishments and on the bonus side it didn’t smell of urine like it used to 🙂
