Homage To The Alley

As I have mentioned a couple of days ago this Alley has been gated off and the graffiti painted over. A friend sent me THIS ARTICLE which says the whys and hows. I have to say the whys are pretty dumb…

Anyway here goes some shots from the last couple of years…

Lots of different Cameras and Lenses and Stuff and Things

Yet More Sleepers

Seems I cant go anywhere these days without catching a couple of sleepers as I go… These are from last weekends roll of film and Im pretty sure I got another couple this weekend as well… May have to make this into its own category after the death of “The Alley”

Death Of An Alley

So for those of you who read this blog regularly (you know who you are) will know that this alley is a source of great photographic material and indeed has its own category. The graffiti changes on a weekly basis and small installations of broken things crop up to be photographed before disappearing hours later.

Well I guess someone got annoyed at the above coolness and possibly the rank smell of urine and empty paint cans which wasn’t so cool and has put up and padlocked gates at either end 😦

Oh Well RIP The Alley…

Fountain

This was a bit of a lens flare and shutter speed test I did the other day. I think Rollei did pretty damn well!

Waiting

Rollei Police Pan

Panning shots with most cameras can be difficult… When your camera is inverted left to right you pretty much have to wing it.

Still even though I missed most of the car the part I did get was pretty bang on… Might have to try it again.

They were racing up to Manners Street where yet another person had been hit by a bus after then whole road layout change thing from late last year… I have that image for another post.

Mushrooms

Mushrooms spring up in the most unusual places…

Monopod Man

Saw this guy scoping out places to shoot just before a lunchtime concert at Frank Kits Park. They were supposed to be recording a song for the Christchurch Earthquake with a big crowd participation but it didn’t look like too many people turned up and I got bored and wandered off to go shoot elsewhere… I walked back past as they were packing up so basically missed the main event so I wonder if they got a good turnout?

London Street Photography Festival Entry? And A Shot Of Me.

I have been thinking of entering this competition for a little while now and there is only a week and a half to go before entries close… Any images people liked or were memorable? Cant be a posed shot which is most of what I do anyway and can be a single image or a set of images…

Let me know

Cheers

Here’s a shot that Andrew aka Saturday Harrasser took of me when we were out shooting after the rugby 7’s earlier in the year. Shot with a Nikon D700 and processed using Silver Effects Pro to look like Ilford Delta 3200 ISO Film (which was what I was shooting that night). There’s not many shots of me I actually like but this is definitely one of them and I have to say that the film grain is pretty damn close to what Delta 3200 actually looks like… Good work Andrew we should got out shooting again some time…
