More NDX Goodness
As promised here goes some more NDX shots.
This filter gives a colour cast if you havent noticed and I find some of these shots hard on my eyes but they definitely have more of a post apocalyptic feel to them. The other reason I usually convert them is in the upper left hand corner and is more apparent when there is just sky. My Nikon D70s gives me a nice pink cloud effect which is really annoying on really long exposures and is apparently caused by the contacts with the autofocus system heating up, you don’t get it with manual focus lenses (all mine are auto focus so havent tested this out to see if it is true or not)
NIkon D70s, 18-70mm Lens, ISO 200, Cokin NDX Filter. All exposures f8 at around 10 Minutes
First Roll of 120 Through Rolleiflex
Here goes a few images from the first roll of 120 film I put through the Rolleiflex. These are all straight off the film with no corrections and using the camera meter.
All I can say is WOW…Even with a couple of good-sized cracks round the edge of the lens this camera is giving a sharp image and the meter is spot on 🙂
You can see the extent of the lens damage in the top corners of this image as a darkening of the sky but all in all not too bad and could be post produced out with a bit of vignette.
A little bit of flare here as well but this was across the sun so was kinda pushing it to see what it would do…
Not the best photo but hey it’s not everyday you see a couple of stormtroopers walking down the street.
I almost got them front on but need more practice with focus and reverse panning techniques…
I think this might replace the F5 for a little while as camera of choice for street shooting… Well we’ll see 🙂

NDX Filter Shots
All these images were taken with a Cokin NDX filter which reduces light by a massive 13 stops, ie you can’t see anything through it.
They are all around 10 minute exposures in the middle of the day with lots of people around but because of the long exposure they seem mostly deserted.
I converted them to black and white because unfortunately the filter has a colour shift which is near impossible to correct.
I like they way they feel…kinda deserted and slightly disturbing.
Not entirely happy with the result and will go back and do again possibly when it is more overcast so the shadows aren’t as problematic.
Spinning
Playground toys can be great to photograph…
Borrowed Lensbaby
Borrowed a Lensbaby the other day to take a couple of shots with.
Not really sure what to think of them…
Film Ends
These are a couple of film ends where the felt from the film cassette has left an exposure on the film when it is loaded. This mostly happens when you use a bulk film roller and your relaodable cassettes start to get a bit ragged. I always look for them but dont get many good ones. I think I may have posted the top one a few months ago… can’t remember.

Dead Flower
Dont you just love it when your walking along (admittedly in a cemetery) and you go “Hey, that dead looking flower is pretty cool, I just happen to have an extension tube and a 50mm on my F5, This could be a cool image”
And it was True Story

Flash situated above the head of the thistle just out of frame in order to have more light fall-off.

Cross Processed Flowers
When you cross process Fuji Velvia 50 ISO (develop a colour transparency film using a colour Negative process) you get a lot of green.

Verns Head
Slightly macabre but an old school image from a number of years ago.
This is a scan of a black and white print. No Photoshop involved. I cut a hole in a piece of wood and then placed a tablecloth over it, also with a hole cut in it, then a plastic plate had a chunk cut out and the model was kneeling on the floor. Developer was painted on with a brush to get that uneven effect.
The actual print has more detail around the face. This is one of my Favourite pics I have taken.
Looking back it could have done with some garnish.
