Some shots of the earthquake affected Christchurch Cathedral. This is almost 5 years since the quake hit and it is still considered too dangerous to go in…

A Bit Of Camera Repair

I finally got around to pulling apart my broken Canon Demi S half frame camera to see if I could get it back up and running. I found a repair manual online for a slightly different model of camera and startedΒ  dismantling. There was a major difference unfortunatley in how the front cover came off which would have saved a lot of time and trouble but you live and learn.

I got it all back together (with no extra bits left out) with the initial problem fixed but another problem arose which meant I needed to pull it al apart again… Lets just say its a work in progress πŸ™‚

Luckily while I was doing this I was also bidding on another one online πŸ™‚

Computer Issues: Part 2

Its been a strange week not having a working computer but hopefully I have sorted it out… I now have two working computers so are backing up everything onto removable hard drive and then see which one gives the best performance πŸ™‚

This was what my desk looked like 30 minutes ago… Let the blogging resume!

Computer Issues

I have been having some problems with my computer lately and yesterday it finally gave up and died on me 😦

Most of my stuff was backed up but I still need to rescan about 20 rolls of film before I can get back to putting stuff back up… Sorry

Hopefully it wont take too long…

The Day Rollei Died

Sorry to say I have been a bit quiet of late but unfortunately my Rolleiflex decided to up and die on me. Its currently away hopefully being repaired (fingers crossed).

This is probably the shot where it happened.

I will keep you informed on how it is going… Time to do some more experimentation with digital while its away πŸ™‚

Broken Glass

From an Urbex (Urban Exploration) with Fergus from 3 or 4 weeks ago… It seemed to be some sort of equipment rental place and only newly broken into so damage was minimal. I still had colour in the camera from shooting at the sevens… I have a whole series I shot on digital which I will put up at some stage…

This is the first time I really tried to take a shot looking straight down at the ground with Rollei.. Its actually pretty hard to do with a TLR

Abandoned School

Last weekend Fergus AKA Cunningvision took me to an abandoned school out by where he lives. Lets just say I wasn’t expecting the school to be quite as large and run down as it was… In short it was way cooler than I was expecting πŸ™‚

Apparently it used to be part of Hutt Valley High School but hasn’t been used in quite a while… Must go back again…

Broken Cadillac On Oriental Parade

On a morning wander with Samantha on my back we came across this Cadillac with its hood up and a pair of legs sticking out of the driver’s door … In the interest of getting closer we went and said hello and took this shot without him noticing while we talked πŸ™‚

It wasn’t there when we walked back later on in the morning so hopefully he got it working again… It was a pretty sweet car!

Sunday Assisting Job

I had an assisting job yesterday with photographer Bev Short… We have done quite a bit of work together and she is reasonably cool with me taking shots like this where usually it would be frowned upon.

It was an image for her book shot around a car wreckers yard… Needless to say we were all filthy by the end of it πŸ™‚

I like that the strobe is in the engine bay… for some reason it amuses me.

More shots of wrecked cars to come…
