Knitting Graffiti And Solace In The Wind
Things are still a bit stop start at the moment, sorry, due to the fact that I am trying to develop and scan a backlog of film to get back to normal.
It looks like the knitting graffiti crew have been at it again. This time with the sculpture “Solace in the Wind” which was looking like a surf lifesaver in the weekend.
These shots occurred just after I had managed to lock my keys in the car. I decided to just leave them there and continue to shoot and then went and borrowed some tools and broke back into it later on… I must be slipping though because it took much longer than usual to get back in… Lets just say we got some funny looks while trying to get in 🙂 And I think Hamish got some images of me breaking in.

Bubbles On The Waterfront
OK book is done (link at top of sidebar if you want to look at it or even buy it) so it is time to get back to putting up images again 🙂 .
The weather is starting to head back to sunny even if there is still a bit of a chill in the air. These two girls were blowing bubbles at the back of Te Papa one evening as I was walking past. The last shot is an enlargement so you can see the bubbles 🙂

Nearly Done
Book is nearly done ( I am aiming to get it in by the 31st) so hopefully things should be back to normal after that…
Spotted this guy at the opening ceremony for the rugby statue just off Civic Square… Lets just say that I’m pretty sure that it wasn’t orange fizzy drink in the bottle.

Blog Neglect And Book Project
OK I don’t know about neglect but I don’t seem to be quite as regular as the last year and a half or so…
I have, however, been concentrating on producing a small self published book using Blurb Books… With the American dollar being so low against the New Zealand dollar (something like $1 NZ equals 87c US) it means that a & inch x 7 inch softcover book with up to 40 pages is only something like $20 NZ and that’s with a paper upgrade.
This is going to be a bit of a test to see how it looks and I will probably get a softcover and a hardcover to see what they are like…
The images below are a couple of pages… They are all double page spreads and the red dotted lines are where they will be cut so that there will be no grey border and the right hand image will bleed right to the edge…
I still don’t have a title… I kind of wanted something that incorporated the word “Halide” (not necessarily Dark Halide) but could also mention all the image being taken in Wellington and on a Rolleiflex and should also contain something about Street Photography… Arrrrrrrggggg….. That makes my head hurt just thinking about it…
Any Suggestions?

MG vs SUV
Crash on the corner of Victoria Street and Ghuznee Street from a couple of weeks back. This is a good example why a MG and an SUV shouldn’t play together.

Shooting The Shooters: Video
Not sure what the box in front of the camera was for… Maybe some kind of pinhole effect?

False Alarm
This has been a strange week for being in the vicinity of fire alarms going off. I think Sam and I have seen three in the last three days.
This was the first one when we were at Photo Warehouse getting more film. Since it is at the bottom of an apartment block something like five fire engines turned up and there were quite a few people who looked like they had been woken up by the alarm and weren’t too happy that it was a false alarm (I am not too sure they would have been happier if it was a real fire).

Shooting The Shooters Again
Protest about Burma’s human rights record in the background. Should have shot it a bit more wide open but you can already start to see the lens aberrations on the lower right hand side.

Sleeper and Poem
I realised I haven’t posted a sleeper shot in a while. To be honest they have been a bit thin on the ground with the cold winter weather. The fine spell has meant that they have started to appear again.

Another Book Sale
I think this is the biggest one that is held at the TSB Arena every year. The light wasn’t as good as the rowing club one but there were certainly more books. This was taken on the second day so it also wasn’t quite so frenzied.
